The
Rosalind
Project .
with Hashim Ishfaq
Embark on your bioinformatics journey with me as we explore the very exciting world at the junction of biology and computer science!
ABOUT
Huh..what's the
Rosalind Project?
It is an online project that offers a wide range of intellectually stimulating computational puzzles extracted from real challenges in molecular biology, whether it's counting nucleotides or figuring out the pesky population dynamics of rabbits.
Its goal is, nicking a few lines here, to inspire a new generation of bioinformatics students by attracting biology enthusiasts who want to develop vital programming skills at their own pace in a unique environment as well as programmers who have never been exposed to some of the exciting computational problems generated by molecular biology.
Hm..so how do I get started?
It's really easy! Just create an account on the Rosalind Website and you are on your way to solving puzzles, achieving badges and becoming a bioinformatics expert.
Sweet!
Wait, so why is it called Rosalind again?
In honour of Rosalind Franklin, the scientist whose pioneering work in X-ray crystallography facilitated the discovery of DNA, revolutionizing the field of biology forever. A great deal of the problems you encounter on the platform are related to complicated world of DNA!
So what do you do?
Hey, I'm Hashim! A 17-year old obsessed with the fascinating world of bioinformatics, and cats. I make Python walkthroughs for every puzzle I finish, going through many possible ways of approaching and solving a problem.

I also blog about various exciting topics in biology, so you can read through my excellently composed ramblings. Feel free to reach out to me if you want to collab on podcasts or want to see me explore a topic!
Your journey will lead you through...
It is recommended you read the backstory behind each problem on the Rosalind website o understand it better:
